Bad Moms Know That Everything Goes Better With Bacon, And Also Awards
You might not know this about us, but we're Canadian. Which means that we like bacon and maple syrup and Leonard Cohen and beavers and recreational activities involving ice (this includes shaking martinis, but not curling. Curling is dumb. Unless you do it while drinking martinis) and also means that we have a soft spot for other Canadian bloggers and also something of a sensitivity to being underappreciated by our neighbour to the south (YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE.)
It's awards season in the blogosphere, which means that conditions are ideal for the perfect storm of those sensitivities. DON'T FORGET THE CANADIANS, Y'ALL.
Babble recently listed their Top 50 Mommybloggers, and although I was thrilled to be in their top ten (you can see my profile – which is, I have to say, really very awesome and not at all ego-inflating because Canadians don't have egos – here), I couldn't help but notice that there were only two of us – two Canadians, that is – among the fifty (waving to Redneck Mommy!). Just two? Really? I mean, it's not that I think that we need affirmative action in lists like these, but I do think that it demonstrates that Canadian blogging talent is underexposed, eh?
So. I want to do our own list – we'll cross-post it on Canada Moms Blog because, duh – of The Best Canadian Mom Bloggers That You've Maybe Heard Of, Maybe Not, Or Maybe Didn't Even Know Were Canadian. And because I don't want this to be all elitisty-listy – and also because I want to find out who everybody thinks is great and not just look at my own same-old same-old blogrolls – I want suggestions. Who are you reading who is Canadian and awesome? Let us know in the comments, and we'll do us up our own lists and celebrate with bacon and maple syrup sandwiches.
(And for everyone who wishes that there was a truly representative and really honest-to-goodness Canadian version of all those blog award thingies out there: check out the brand new Canadian Weblog Awards, hosted by Schmutzie, who we love almost as much as bacon.)

Sarcastica forgot to nominate herself: http://sarcastica.org.
Also, LOVE http://mommyismoody.com, very very much.
Sarcastica has to be on that list!
http://www.sarcastica.org/
I am said neighbor to the South, and I fully appreciate my Northern neighbors. I mean, you guys have some guts for standing up to that cold. Also? My favorite blogger and mommyblogger is Canadian, so I pretty much worship the Great Frigid North. (Plus, it’s good practice to get along with the climate that typically sends the cold weather and crazy snowstorms to my corner of the world, New England.)
I hereby nominate Sarcastica, at http://sarcasica.org, for The Best Canadian Mom Bloggers That You’ve Maybe Heard Of, Maybe Not, Or Maybe Didn’t Even Know Were Canadian because she is a great friend, and an amazing mom. She’s got a heck of a sense of humor, too.
Crap, typo! My nomination is for http://sarcastica.org, not for whoever that Sarcasica chick is that I linked accidentally.
I nominate Sarcastica, a young new mom! http://sarcastica.org
If you’ve not read Jess from Sarcastica.org, then you’re missing out on a lot.
A young mom in Ontario, she’s brutally honest and extremely insightful. Well spoken and very talented as a writer, she writes blog posts I am eager to read often, and responds to almost every comment! (Only missed a few recently, I think, because her internet was sketchy at best.)
I don’t know her IRL, but think she would make an awesome friend, that’s just the vibe she sends out on her blog.
Another good one is Jess from drowninginkids.com
Another honest woman, with many of her own struggles. She takes beautiful photos and is charming and sweet and thought provoking.
Charity at thisisnotachair.ca/blog is awesome, so is Ada at dirtyolive.net
I’m a huge fan of http://www.phdinparenting.com so I second that vote!
Also, I nominate http://www.lifeisgoodatthebeach.com !
What a great list of bloggers. I have added a ton of new finds to my Reader.

you know I was just thinking about this some more and I think it is so interesting how few of these great blogs I was aware of!! I’ve always thought it a tad odd that the vast majority of my readers are from the USA… I’m thankful for them but I have always wondered where all the Canadians are! I will definitely be checking out the ones listed here- thanks!
Nominating my fellow Canada Moms Blog allum and friend, Beck, from Frog and Toad Are Still Friends http://frogandtoadarestillfriends.blogspot.com/

Some of my favorite bloggers are Canadian. I want to take a trip up North just to meet all of them. I want to nominate Saucy http://www.saucysprinkles.com/. She’s not just a mommy blogger but a crafty blogger, a cooking blogger, fashion blogger, etc.
Kal Barteski who writes ilovelife. She’s a mom and artist and Canadian and one of my favorites!!
http://lovelife.typepad.com/
I love the writing tone o f Emma Waverman’s Embrace the Chaos blog, where she covers parenthood with humour. She also knows just what to feed foodie refusniks. http://embracethechaos.ca/
Not sure if Daddy bloggers are allowed on this list, but Curious Dad’s posts are always well-written, well-researched and interesting. He’s also not afraid to admit when he’s wrong, and takes on differences of opinion with grace, respect. : http://communities.canada.com/vancouversun/blogs/parenting/default.aspx
I’m a Canadian Mama! Check out my blog: http://swellpregnancy.blogspot.com
I also love to read Mommy Brain at http://mommybrainjen.blogspot.com

Oh, me! Me! Over here! Me!
http://betterbabybox.wordpress.com
Hi! I am new in this land of mommy-bloggin’. Also, I’m not a mommy. Just working on becoming one. So, yeah, um…ME!
I’m kinda new at this and feel a bit slimy/car salespersonish with this whole self-nomination thing. But it is a good procrastination from posting…
http://www.embracethechaos.ca/
And I post five days a week so there must be an award for sheer nonsensical volume somewhere…
I am a new Canadian blogger http://nugglemamashandful.blogspot.com
