When DIAPER FAIL Means Something Entirely Other Than Smelly Leakage

Goodnites-mega-boy-sm Okay, so if I asked you if you wanted your toddler to emulate David Beckham, you might say to yourself, oh, the soccer player? Sure! I'd love my child to get into soccer! and be tempted to say hell, yes, with the proviso that he or she not demand the back tattoos.

But I'm guessing that if I made the question clearer and asked you if you'd like your toddler to emulate this David Beckham…

BeckhamArmani

You'd say no.

BeckhamGoodNites

In which case, you'd clearly fall outside of GoodNite pull-up's target market in Korea.

'Skeeved' just does not adequately describe the feeling.

WHOSE IDEA WAS THIS? And, can we make sure that they never, ever are allowed within thirty feet of a playground? DAMN.

I can’t count the number of levels this is wrong on

  2. mapsgirl says:

    That’s so not right.

  3. Carrie says:

wrong wrong wrong…where do you FIND this stuff???

  4. sherry says:

I wish there was an emoticon to match the look of horror and disgust on my face right now because as much as I like to use my words the only ones I can find involve heavy use of profanity and many instances of “ewwwww”.

  5. I think you had the “smelly” part right, as this ad reeks of sexploitation. Repeat with me: There is NOTHING sexual about childhood!
This type of advertising is harmful to children and those of us trying to protect children. It sends the message that children are sexual, consumable, and worst of all, vulnerable.
Shame on you, Huggies (Good Nites), as the latent message your ad sends crosses all cultures. You just lost my business.

  6. Marilyn says:

    What. The. Hell.

  7. jayme says:

That is so wrong on so many levels!

  8. DCUrbanDad says:

I loved Copyranter’s take on this. I saw it yesterday via AdRants. Am in the ad business and this just plain sucks on so many levels.

  9. Jennie says:

That makes me sick to my stomach.

  10. SB says:

A more obvious question is what the hell is that rope connected to?
    *pulls rope*
    Ahhhhhhhh!

  11. that is incredibly wrong.

  12. Um…WOW. That’s really sick. Ewww.

  13. Kristin says:

    Gross, gross, gross! And ewww!

  14. Stephanie says:

OK yuck. It would *almost* be funny and tongue-in-cheek if not for the sweaty chest and bad-boy pout on the poor kid, but… ew.

  15. Howie says:

The funny thing is, my nanny brain just went, “Hey, that kid is gonna get cold. Dry off after you get out of the bath. And ropes are dangerous!!”
    Yeah, don’t get it.

Any minute now frogs will start falling from the sky.

  17. Tori says:

That is wrong on so many levels. They shoudl be ashamed of themselves. When the heck did sex and kids become synonymous?

  18. Oh god.

  19. Disgusting. I will not buy their products.

  20. Kat says:

    Way, way out of line.

  21. Blipsta says:

    brilliant

A PEDOPHILE’S dream!! OMG, WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU ADVERTISERS?!! People, it’s time to stand up against this type of subtle packaging, designed specifically for the weak-minded. We’re all educated & discerning adults. Let’s make a decision to continue fighting against such obvious attempts to sexualize our society’s children. Let’s DECIDE once and for all. I’ve had enough of all this fence-sitting. Is it OK…? Isn’t it…? Maybe we all need a wake up call. Maybe some of us need to learn the ‘fine details’ of how some pedophiles really feel and act out their urges when they see such enticing images of children. Though sexual abuse will never go away, at least we can stop encouraging it in advertising!! I think knowing how pedophiles really think (understanding their headspace) will finally help some others decide whether they should continue shrugging off these types of ads, or vocally standing against them. Do some research on this, people. Let’s decide to call it what it really is: Child abuse packaged as a ‘witty little parody’! Come on. There’s nothing artistic about child exploitation. There is no ‘freedom of speech’ here at the expense of vulnerable members of society. Let’s finally get that right, once and for all.
