Bad Moms Love Danger, Except When It’s A Middle Name

New parents Amy and Glenn Lampard just could not resist giving their new double trouble twins a double trouble middle name: boy and girl twins Billie and Ridley both have the middle name ‘Danger’.

Why? SILLY QUESTION.

The parents both loved the idea that their children could eventually say ‘Danger is my middle name.’ They’d been planning this for a while.

Apparently not all family and friends agree with the parents’ sense of humor. Which, I get that. I know that my parents would freak if I did this to their grandchildren. I can hear the gasps about future diplomas, resumes, and job searches already and I’m not even the one who gave the children the name.

But to each their own, in my opinion, and really, it could be much, much worse: ‘Danger’ is only their middle name. Just think if the parents’ last name was Robinson, and they named one of the kids ‘Danger’ and the other ‘Will.’

Reminds me of this time a famous pickle company tried to convince Catherine to give her unborn son – the boy now known as Jasper – the middle name ‘Crunch’…  she didn’t (surprise!) go for it, and they were even offering her $25,000 in savings bonds. These parents didn’t even get an offer of free diapers… or I guess in their case, free Lost in Space robots to warn them of impending doom.

What do you think? Ever met anyone who gave their child ‘different‘ names just because they thought it was cool?

Mother to another ‘Danger’. Thought it was kinda badass and fun. However, let me quantify — for his grandparents’ sake (though more for his sake, because perhaps he won’t find it as cool as we did), we gave the boy two middle names – the first, after his grandfather, the second, ‘what bad moms don’t love’. I have to say though, for what it’s worth, I’m not a fan of giving two kids the same name, middle or otherwise. I find that to be the much more unsavory part of the story.
So congrats, now *you* know one of those parents, too.

I actually think that we are – post title notwithstanding – more on the fence than ‘not loving it.’ As Katie says, to each his own, and a middle name, eh, whatever. Stunt naming is one of those things that can go very, very wrong – witness ‘Jer Majesty’ or ‘Pilot Inspektor’ – but far be it from us to tell anyone what to name their kid.

That said, jokes kinda come with the territory, no?

Haha…never met anyone who did that one to their kids, but I have a cousin who named her son Luke specifically because her husband always wanted to be able to say, “Luke…I am your father”. Which I kinda like, actually. And at least Luke is, well, you know…a name.

A couple of years ago there was a baby girl here in New Zealand whose parents decided to name her: ‘Tallulah does the Hula from Hawaii’…I’m not joking. From what I recall the baby was taken in to state care until the parents chose another name for their child. It’d be a boring world if we were all the same, wouldn’t it?!

  5. I, personally LOVE Danger as a middle name.
I mean, who gives a real crap about what your middle name is? How many times have you even told anyone what your middle name is? So many forms just ask you for your initial.
And what a great pickup line, “Hey baby, Danger is my middle name.” Totally cool and totally effective.
I have a friend of a friend whose children’s middle names are “Mayhem, Trouble and Monster.” As long as they have non-crazy first names, who gives a crap.
My middle name is Louise. :P
