Rubber bracelets aimed at spreading breast cancer awareness among the younger set have been banned in some schools in the US because of the (literal) message they’re sending.
The bracelets, part of a nationwide campaign launched by the nonprofit organization Keep A Breast, say I [heart] Boobies, a sentiment that has some school officials in a tizzy. Clovis Unified School District in central California is the most recent school to ban the bracelets, citing dress code violations – centered around the word ‘boobie’, specifically.
A school district in Fresno, however, does allow their students to wear the bracelets to class – but didn’t at first. According to the district spokeswoman, one principal confiscated about 30 of the bracelets at first, but after learning about what the bracelets represented, the administration decided to let their students wear them.
The folks at Keep A Breast just want to raise youth’s awareness of the disease, and have other apparel readily available for those who frown upon the word ‘boobie’.
“We do fully understand that the ‘I Love Boobies’ campaign is not for everyone, which is why we provide several other graphics for people to proudly wear,” said spokeswoman Kimmy McAtee. “We also feel that the word ‘boobies’ is not a four-letter word.” (ed. note: we [heart] math!)
What do you think? Would you let your high-school aged student wear an I [heart] Boobies bracelet to school in the name of breast cancer awareness? Bad moms wanna know!

Yes I would. When G was a baby we referred to breastmilk as boobie juice which was extremely juvenile of us but she loved it. Breasts deserve a lot respect but a little humour doesn’t hurt if done with good intention IMO.
